Let It Loose

Why loose leaf tea is better—for your brew, your body, and the backcountry.

Tea has always been about slowing down.
But somewhere along the way, it got hurried—stuffed into plastic-heavy bags, bleached, over-processed, and boxed for speed. Convenience won. Ritual lost.

At Lonely Larch, we’re bringing it back.
Back to the leaves. Back to the source. Back to a better way to brew.

Here’s why we go loose leaf—and why you probably should too.

🌿 Better Flavor. Better Feel.

Loose leaf tea is made from whole, uncrushed leaves. That means more oils, more depth, more of the good stuff. You’ll taste real texture, not just hot leaf water (yeah, we said it).

Bagged teas often use dust and fannings—the smallest, leftover particles. Quick to brew, quick to fade. Loose leaf gives your cup room to stretch, open, and steep like it’s meant to.

It’s not just a drink. It’s an experience.

💚 Cleaner for You and the Planet

You care about what you put in your body—and what you leave behind.
Loose leaf teas:

  • Skip the plastic-heavy bags (yep, many “paper” tea bags have plastic inside)

  • Use fewer additives and flavorings

  • Often come in more sustainable, compostable packaging—like ours

No microplastics, no weird aftertastes. Just leaves, herbs, spices, and intention.

🏕️ Trail-Friendly, Too

Loose leaf tea might sound fancy, but it’s surprisingly easy to bring outside:

  • Pre-portion a serving or two into a reusable pouch

  • Pack a lightweight steeper or biodegradable tea bags

  • Heat water, steep, and sip under the trees

No trash. No mess. No regrets.

🍃 Alpine Ridge Earl Grey

How to Brew It Best

  • 1 tsp of loose leaf per 8 oz water

  • Steep 3–5 minutes (depends on the blend)

  • Strain with a fine mesh filter or reusable pouch

  • Compost your leaves when you’re done 💚

Loose leaf isn’t just better tea.
It’s a slower moment in a faster world. A better choice for the wild places we love. And a way to make your daily cup a little more thoughtful.

So go ahead.
Let it loose.

Drink up. Speak up. Let’s keep it wild out there. 🌲
