The Hands in the Dirt- National Forest Foundation
Share
Meet the National Forest Foundation—the folks restoring the wild acre by acre.
We talk a lot about keeping it wild.
About standing up for tall trees, clean air, and the kind of silence you can only find in a forest at dawn.
But someone has to do the work.
And that’s where the National Forest Foundation comes in.
They’re not just talking. They’re planting. Rebuilding. Rewilding. And we’re proud as hell to stand beside them and donate a portion of profits to their work.
🌲 Who Are They?
The National Forest Foundation (NFF) is the official nonprofit partner of the U.S. Forest Service. That means they’re working directly on the ground to care for the nearly 193 million acres of national forests and grasslands across the country.
Forests like the ones we hike, camp, breathe in—and build this business around.
Their mission is simple: to engage Americans in promoting the health and public enjoyment of our national forests.
But their work? That runs deep.
🛠 What They Actually Do
The NFF focuses on real, measurable impact. Think:
-
Reforesting areas damaged by wildfire, drought, and logging
-
Restoring watersheds and wildlife habitats
-
Building and maintaining trails
-
Supporting local communities that rely on forest resources
-
Bringing people—especially young people—out into the woods
They also launched an ambitious campaign:
🌱 50 million trees planted by 2025.
(Yes, we’re helping.)
💚 Why It Matters
Because forests don’t heal themselves overnight.
Because wildfires are getting worse.
Because biodiversity loss is real.
Because clean air, carbon storage, and public land access aren’t guaranteed unless we fight for them.
And because if we don’t protect these places now, there won’t be anything left to hike, sip coffee in, or hand down to the next generation.
☕ What This Has to Do With Your Coffee
When you buy from Lonely Larch, you’re giving back.
A portion of every sale supports the National Forest Foundation and their boots-on-the-ground projects.
We’re not talking vague promises or performative greenwashing. We’re talking tree planting, trail repair, and restoration in action.
Your mug is doing more than warming your hands. It’s restoring the wild.
